Interesting article about facebook's timeline
Timeline is a completely reformed profile that resembles a WordPress blog with a header that spans across the page with a photo of your choosing. Under the header is your information along with statuses, locations you have visited, photos, and other activities. They related the new profile to that of a scrapbook, somewhere where you will be able to keep the memories of your past and look back on them whenever you choose.
This is something i've been wanting really bad on facebook, an easier way to view all the stuff you posted on 'wall' in the past.
Here's a video of what Timeline's going to look like.
More info about Timeline
Zuckerberg said Facebook's current layout -- the so-called Profile pages on which users post notes about their lives -- had become unweildy. New posts crowded older ones off the bottom of the page, even if they were important in telling friends about a person's life.
Timeline, he said, will improve that. As time goes by, it will automatically help users by saving the important items and shrinking the lesser ones.
"It's really cool. It's really fun to fill out your timeline," he said.Techland
Zuckerberg introduced the new Facebook feature as "all your stories, all your apps and a new way to express who you are." Previously your old information published on Facebook disappeared at the bottom of your profile in chronological order, kind of like "falling off a cliff."
"With timeline, now you have a home for all the great stories you've already shared," writes Samuel W. Lessin, a product manager at Facebook on the company's blog. "They don't just vanish as you add new stuff."
The new timeline user interface is incredibly visual and unlike any type of profile we've seen on a social network.
It starts with a giant cover photo sitting above a person's profile (Zuck used his dog, Beast). When you scroll down, your Facebook activity is given a heavy visual treatment with photos and videos, something akin to Tumblr.
The new timeline won't be available for a few weeks, although once it rolls out you'll be able to either publish it immediately or spend a couple of days curating it, adding and removing content that you want people to see.To learn more about Timeline click here
What do you think of this readers? In my opinion i think its cool.
